Most Inspiring Leader Championing Neurodiversity, Mental Wellness & Inclusive Empowerment – 2026

by CEO Time Magazine

How a Qualified Mental Health Professional, certified neurodivergent life coach, and future founder of Empowered Currents Coaching LLC is championing compassionate connection, self-advocacy, and strengths-based personal growth.

Redefining What Empowerment Looks Like

True empowerment begins when people are recognized for who they are rather than measured against expectations that were never designed for them. For neurodivergent individuals, whose ways of thinking, communicating, processing information, and experiencing the world may differ from conventional expectations, the journey toward confidence and independence can involve navigating barriers that others may not fully understand. Meaningful support requires more than advice; it requires patience, understanding, respect, and a genuine commitment to recognizing each individual’s inherent potential.

Jessica “Sunny” Clowdis, QMHP, CNC, CLC, is building her professional mission around this principle. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional clinician, Certified Neurodivergent Life Coach, and aspiring mental health counselor at Liberty University, she is committed to helping individuals discover their strengths, strengthen their capabilities, and develop practical strategies for navigating life’s challenges.

Her forthcoming private virtual practice, Empowered Currents Coaching LLC, reflects this commitment. Scheduled to launch in March 2027, the practice is being developed as a supportive environment where neurodivergent individuals can work collaboratively toward personal goals, greater self-awareness, and improved daily functioning.

At the heart of Clowdis’s philosophy is a belief that people already possess meaningful talents and abilities, even when circumstances make those qualities difficult to recognize or use. Her role is not to define another person’s potential but to help that individual discover, develop, and apply it.

This perspective establishes the foundation of her work: progress should be personal, communication should be respected, and growth should begin with understanding rather than judgment.

A Professional Philosophy Rooted in Human Connection

For Clowdis, human connection is not simply a desirable aspect of personal development. It is the foundation upon which meaningful change can be built.

She believes that disruptions in a person’s relationship with themselves or others can affect many areas of life, including education, employment, relationships, and emotional well-being. When individuals struggle to understand their own needs, communicate their experiences, or establish healthy connections, everyday responsibilities can become increasingly difficult to navigate.

These challenges can be particularly significant for neurodivergent individuals living in environments that may not accommodate their communication preferences, sensory needs, or natural ways of processing information.

Clowdis approaches these circumstances with an emphasis on understanding the individual before attempting to address the presenting problem. Rather than imposing a predetermined definition of success, she seeks to understand what matters to each person, what challenges they encounter, and what abilities they can draw upon to move forward.

Her approach recognizes that two people experiencing similar difficulties may need entirely different forms of support. One individual may benefit from practical organizational strategies, while another may need help communicating personal boundaries, developing confidence, or navigating relationships.

The objective is to make growth meaningful and achievable within the individual’s circumstances.

This commitment also reflects her understanding that people should have an active role in shaping their own development. Support becomes more effective when individuals feel heard, respected, and involved in decisions that affect their lives.

Through Empowered Currents Coaching LLC, Clowdis intends to translate this philosophy into a client-led coaching experience that emphasizes practical skills, personal autonomy, and a stronger sense of direction.

Empowered Currents: Finding Direction Through Life’s Changing Tides

The name Empowered Currents Coaching carries a deliberate message about the relationship between adversity and personal growth.

Life rarely follows a perfectly predictable course. Circumstances change, responsibilities accumulate, relationships evolve, and unexpected challenges can disrupt even the most carefully considered plans. For neurodivergent individuals, these changes may intersect with sensory sensitivities, fluctuating energy levels, executive-functioning difficulties, and communication barriers.

Clowdis uses the imagery of currents and tides to describe these experiences. Life may bring difficult waves, but individuals can develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate them more effectively.

Her vision is not to suggest that every challenge can be eliminated. Instead, she aims to help clients recognize their existing strengths and learn how to use them when circumstances become difficult.

The practice is intended to offer a safe, private virtual environment where clients can explore their experiences, identify their goals, and develop strategies that align with their abilities and preferences. Through collaboration, they can work toward improved self-understanding, stronger routines, and greater confidence in managing everyday responsibilities.

The emphasis on empowerment is equally important. Clowdis does not view clients as passive recipients of assistance. She seeks to support them in becoming active participants in their own progress, making choices that reflect their values and building capabilities that can serve them beyond individual coaching sessions.

In this sense, Empowered Currents Coaching LLC is envisioned as a place to pause, regain perspective, strengthen personal resources, and continue forward with renewed purpose.

The C.E.P.A.R. Framework: A Person-Centered Approach to Growth

A defining element of Clowdis’s planned coaching practice is her C.E.P.A.R. framework, which organizes her philosophy into five interconnected principles: Cultivate Curiosity, Endeavor Towards Engagement, Pursue Potential, Advocacy Through Attunement, and Reset in Reconciliation.

Together, these principles provide a structure for understanding each client, establishing trust, identifying possibilities, respecting individual needs, and supporting meaningful progress.

Cultivate Curiosity

The first principle begins with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

Clowdis believes that meaningful support requires professionals to approach each person without allowing assumptions or preconceived ideas to determine how that individual is understood. Every client brings a distinct background, identity, set of experiences, and way of engaging with the world.

Cultivating curiosity means listening carefully, asking clarifying questions, and seeking to understand the circumstances behind a presenting concern. It also involves recognizing personal biases and approaching differences with humility.

Rather than assuming that a particular strategy will work for everyone, the approach encourages ongoing learning from the client’s lived experience.

This principle establishes an important foundation: people deserve to be understood as individuals, not reduced to labels or expectations.

Endeavor Towards Engagement

The second principle focuses on building trust through consistency, respect, and authentic connection.

Clowdis recognizes that participation can become difficult when services rely on communication methods or environments that do not suit an individual’s needs. Her planned virtual practice is intended to reduce certain barriers by allowing clients to participate from the comfort of their homes.

She also intends to accommodate different communication preferences as reasonably as possible. These may include direct conversation, interest-based communication, live typing for individuals who do not wish to vocalize during sessions, or the use of agreed-upon metaphors to express complex experiences.

Such flexibility reflects her belief that communication should not be restricted to a single format. By creating opportunities for clients to engage in ways that feel more accessible, she hopes to support stronger participation and more authentic collaboration.

Pursue Potential

The third principle centers on recognizing and developing the abilities individuals already possess.

Clowdis believes that empowerment grows when people can identify their strengths, establish realistic goals, and recognize progress over time. Her approach emphasizes building on existing capabilities rather than focusing exclusively on perceived limitations.

Goals are intended to reflect each client’s priorities and circumstances. Progress may involve developing organizational habits, improving follow-through, practicing self-advocacy, or becoming more confident in everyday decisions.

Small achievements matter because they can demonstrate that change is possible and provide a foundation for continued development.

Through this principle, Clowdis aims to help clients transform their aspirations into practical steps while strengthening their confidence in their own abilities.

Advocacy Through Attunement

The fourth principle emphasizes empathy, awareness, and active listening.

For Clowdis, advocacy begins with paying attention to what an individual communicates about their emotional, mental, and physical needs. It involves validating personal experiences, respecting choices, and helping individuals feel that their perspectives matter.

She also emphasizes equitable access to resources and services. Neurodivergent individuals may encounter obstacles when seeking support, particularly when their needs are misunderstood or their communication styles are not accommodated.

An attuned approach seeks to recognize these barriers and support individuals in expressing their needs and navigating available resources.

The objective is to create an environment in which clients feel respected and understood while developing the confidence to advocate for themselves.

Reset in Reconciliation

The final principle creates room for reflection, healing, and new beginnings.

Personal growth does not always follow a straight line. People may encounter setbacks, experience difficult emotions, or discover that an earlier strategy no longer serves them. Clowdis’s framework acknowledges the importance of pausing, reflecting, and adjusting rather than treating every setback as a failure.

Resetting can involve identifying unhelpful patterns, reconsidering priorities, and determining what needs to change. Reconciliation may also involve rebuilding trust or addressing relationship difficulties when appropriate.

Through this principle, Clowdis seeks to help clients process experiences, recognize lessons, and move forward with greater clarity.

Together, the five C.E.P.A.R. principles reflect her holistic view of personal development: curiosity builds understanding, engagement strengthens connection, potential creates direction, attunement supports advocacy, and reconciliation opens the way for renewed progress.

Understanding the Challenges Neurodivergent Individuals Face

Clowdis’s commitment to neurodivergent individuals is informed by her professional experience and her own identification as a neurodivergent professional.

She recognizes that many environments are structured around neurotypical expectations, which can leave neurodivergent individuals working harder to meet demands that do not naturally align with their needs. Communication misunderstandings can strain relationships, sensory overload can make ordinary settings difficult to navigate, and masking can require significant effort.

Executive functioning can also influence how people organize tasks, manage time, prioritize responsibilities, and follow through on plans. When several demands converge, daily life may feel unpredictable and exhausting.

Clowdis seeks to respond to these challenges with practical strategies rather than a one-size-fits-all formula. Her intended coaching approach emphasizes coping skills, achievable goal-setting, self-compassion, mindset reframing, and neurolinguistic patterning coaching to help clients practice and apply the skills they develop.

Strengthening executive functioning is a particular priority because these capabilities can influence how individuals manage responsibilities and connect with themselves and others.

The goal is not to make every person conform to the same expectations. It is to help individuals understand their needs, identify useful supports, and develop approaches that make daily life more manageable.

Clowdis’s philosophy also recognizes the importance of flexibility. Energy levels, sensory comfort, and communication preferences may vary over time or according to circumstances. Effective support must account for those changes while continuing to work toward the client’s chosen goals.

Lessons from Behavioral Health Practice

Clowdis’s experience as a Qualified Mental Health Professional at Horizon Behavioral Health’s crisis care center has contributed to her understanding of how individualized support can be delivered during difficult circumstances.

Through this work, she has gained experience applying trauma-informed care, drawing on self-determination theory, and supporting clients as they process experiences at their own pace. She has also encountered individuals with varying neurotypes and different ways of communicating, responding to stress, and understanding their circumstances.

These experiences have reinforced the importance of helping people feel seen, heard, respected, and safe.

Trauma-informed care requires sensitivity to the ways difficult experiences can affect a person’s responses and sense of security. A respectful approach avoids rushing individuals through their experiences and instead recognizes their need for appropriate pacing, choice, and understanding.

Self-determination is similarly important to Clowdis’s philosophy. She believes that people possess potential that can be strengthened when they are supported in making meaningful choices and participating actively in their own development.

Her understanding of support also extends beyond direct conversation. Sometimes, assisting a person means helping them connect with resources that address an immediate need. In other circumstances, it means listening without judgment or recognizing that progress may occur gradually.

Her guiding sentiment captures this commitment: “What matters to them, matters to me.”

It is a simple statement with significant implications. It places the client’s priorities at the center of the helping relationship and reinforces the importance of approaching every individual with dignity.

Preparing to Launch a Purpose-Driven Practice

Building Empowered Currents Coaching LLC represents Clowdis’s next step in translating her professional philosophy into an independent practice.

The planned March 2027 launch follows a period of learning about business establishment, navigating the appropriate channels for legitimizing the practice in Virginia, and seeking guidance from more experienced professionals within her network.

Developing the business has also introduced practical challenges, including website design, technical requirements, and decisions about how the practice will appear and function across computers and mobile devices.

Clowdis is approaching these responsibilities as opportunities to learn and adapt. She intends to evaluate available website-development services and independent options while ensuring that the practice’s documentation and systems address applicable privacy and compliance requirements, including HIPAA where relevant.

Accessibility and a welcoming client experience remain central considerations as she prepares the practice for its intended audience.

To introduce the service and begin building engagement, she plans to offer a free coaching package to the first 10 neurodivergent individuals who are interested in and receptive to participating.

This initiative reflects her desire to make the practice approachable while gaining experience in delivering its intended services. It also demonstrates her willingness to build gradually, learn from client experiences, and refine the practice as it develops.

Measuring Success One Person at a Time

For Clowdis, success is personal rather than universal. She compares it to a cloud: different people may look at the same cloud and see entirely different shapes. In much the same way, individuals can define a fulfilling life according to their own priorities, circumstances, and aspirations.

Her approach to evaluating progress involves considering a client’s circumstances before coaching, the goals established during the process, developments in executive functioning, and the individual’s longer-term direction. Client feedback is also important in determining whether the strategies being used are meaningful and effective.

This perspective avoids reducing personal growth to a single milestone. Improvement may be reflected in stronger organizational habits, increased confidence, greater independence, more effective communication, or a clearer understanding of personal needs.

Clowdis’s long-term goals for Empowered Currents Coaching LLC are ambitious but measurable. By August 2027, she aims to collect outcome data reflecting transformational growth in executive functioning among approximately 25 to 50 clients.

She also intends to increase engagement in neurodivergence awareness by 37% through professional presentations, monthly workshops, webinars, and group coaching.

These objectives reflect her interest in extending the practice’s impact beyond individual sessions. Through education and community engagement, she hopes to encourage broader understanding of neurodivergence and promote more supportive ways of approaching differences in communication, functioning, and personal development.

Ultimately, however, her definition of meaningful impact remains grounded in the individual. Helping even one person experience a positive transformation would make the effort worthwhile.

A Message of Hope, Dignity, and Self-Discovery

Clowdis’s vision extends beyond the services her future practice will offer. She hopes to encourage neurodivergent individuals to reconsider how they understand themselves and their abilities.

Her message is clear: neurodivergence should not automatically be viewed as a barrier to a meaningful life. Although individual strengths may sometimes conflict with the expectations of the surrounding world, those strengths can also become important resources when understood and developed in ways that suit the individual.

This does not mean overlooking difficulties or suggesting that every obstacle can be overcome through determination alone. Rather, it means recognizing that support, practical tools, accessible environments, and self-understanding can help people pursue lives that reflect their values and capabilities.

Clowdis envisions Empowered Currents Coaching LLC as a place where clients can pause, orient themselves, strengthen their skills, and continue their journeys with renewed purpose.

Her work is guided by the belief that empowerment begins with connection: connection to oneself, connection to others, and connection to the possibilities that emerge when people are treated with dignity.

As she prepares to launch her practice in March 2027, Jessica “Sunny” Clowdis is building a model of coaching centered on curiosity, flexibility, compassion, and individual potential. Her commitment is to help neurodivergent individuals recognize what they bring to the world, develop tools that serve their needs, and move toward their own definitions of success.

Like the currents that inspire her practice’s name, life’s circumstances will continue to change. Her hope is that the individuals she supports will be better equipped to navigate those changes, not by becoming someone else, but by developing greater confidence in who they already are and what they can become.
